Baseball To Defend YSCC Crown With 14-Game Fall Slate

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball program prepares to defend its Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) title beginning this fall with a 14-game slate released Thursday, August 10th.

Head Coach Jordan Yanni will return for his second season following an 11-14-1 mark a season ago. The SeaWolves open their fall campaign in Portsmouth, N.H. and square off against Great Bay Community College (GBCC) to begin the Herons’ inaugural season on September 8th.

SMCC begins a four-game home stand, first in a double dip with Central Maine Community College (CMCC) on September 13th. The SeaWolves will look to build on a 14-4-1 record they hold over the Mustangs spanning the previous five seasons. SMCC will play host to New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) in an afternoon doubleheader on September 16th. The SeaWolves ride a seven game winning streak against the Lynx at home.

The SeaWolves play YSCC doubleheaders against the same CMCC and NHTI, this time on the road—first in Auburn, Maine on September 20th and then in Concord, N.H. on September 23rd.

SMCC is set to travel to Holyoke Community College on September 24th in hopes to extend its three game winning streak against the non-conference opponent. The SeaWolves will round out September and their regular season when they welcome GBCC for a YSCC doubleheader on the 30th.

SMCC is scheduled to host the YSCC Fall Invitational, a one-day postseason tournament on October 7th. Seeding will be determined upon the results of the conference regular season.
