Lady SeaWolves Advance To YSCC Title Game

CONCORD, N.H.— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball team defeated the Lady Mustangs of Central Maine Community College (CMCC) 14-0 in five innings to advance to the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) championship game vs. New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) at 3 p.m.

First-years Sarah Guimond (East Waterboro, Maine) and Kristen Mackenzie (Seabrook, N.H.) combined for nine strikeouts and zero earned runs in five innings of work. 

Mackenzie also got it done at the plate with her fifth multi-hit game of the season. First-year Kaylah Abdul (South Berwick, Maine) was a perfect 2-2 at the dish and plated three in her efforts. She continues to lead the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) in batting average (.603) and RBI's (46). 

The Lady SeaWolves jumped on the board with six runs in the first frame and four in each of the following two innings to close out the game early by the eight-run rule. 

The Lynx advance to the title game in their rout of College of St. Joseph (VT) 9-0. SMCC won both games in their doubleheader against NHTI earlier this season outscoring their opponent 19-4.
