SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball program announced its 2017 fall schedule on Wednesday, August 9th to include six games in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) round robin format and one postseason play date.
Coming off a 16-5 season and earning YSCC Coach of the Year honors in his rookie campaign, Head Coach Ray Magnant will return for another crack at a conference title. The SeaWolves will open play on September 16th with two games in Concord, N.H.—the first against the College of St. Joseph (VT), a perennial YSCC opponent, and the second game against a first-year program in Great Bay Community College.
SMCC will host its five-team round robin date on September 23rd to match up against the Mustangs from Central Maine Community College (CMCC) and the Lynx of New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI). Dating back the previous five seasons, the SeaWolves are 10-2 at home against CMCC, but 1-13 against NHTI.
The SeaWolves will conclude its fall regular season with a two-game slate in Portsmouth, N.H. against the same CMCC and NHTI of the weekend prior.
SMCC will host the YSCC Fall Invitational, a one-day postseason tournament, on October 7th. Seeding will be determined upon results of the six-game conference regular season.
