South Portland - The Lady Seawolves knocked down four of their nine three pointers in the opening ten minutes of tonight's women's basketball action, allowing them to jump out to 30-4 lead with 7:08 remaining in the first half against the Lady Clippers of the University of Maine - Machias. The Lady Clippers battled back, outscoring the Seawolves by one point in the second twenty minutes, but it was not enough to overcome the first half deficit as the Seawolves pulled out the 82-59 victory.
The Seawolves were led for the second consecutive game by forward Nyalieb Deng (Portland, ME) who scored a team high 16 points. Shooting guard Danielle McCusker (South Portland, ME) dropped in 15 and Esther Palmieri (South Portland, ME) chipped in 12. Jaimi Poland (Skowhegan, ME) neared a double double with 11 points and nine rebounds and Danielle Day (Limington, ME) scored nine points on 3-5 shooting and 2-2 from beyond the arc.
Lady Clippers' point guard Emma Legallias scored a game high 19 points and teammate Randi DeWitt netted 17. Shooter Danielle Wormell was red hot coming off the bench going 4-5 from downtown to pitch in 12 points.
The Lady Seawolves improve to 17-6 overall and 12-1 in YSCC play with this afternoon's victory. They will be back in action against conference rival Central Maine Community College on Wedsnesday February 12th at 6pm
