Women’s Soccer Unveils 2017 Schedule

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— Returning for her fourth season at the helm of the Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's soccer program, Head Coach Julia Cyr and the SeaWolves look to reclaim their position as 2015 Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) champions, this year in a one-division format.

The SeaWolves will open regular season play with a new opponent in Holyoke Community College on August 30th. September begins on the road at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Final Four team a season ago. SMCC will get YSCC-opponent College of St. Joseph (Vt.) in its home opener at Wainwright Recreation Complex on September 9th and turn around to host Vermont Technical College in another conference showdown on the 10th.

The 2017 slate continues with three games on the road beginning with Central Maine Community College (CMCC), a team SMCC women's soccer has found success against to a tune of 12-0-2 all-time. The SeaWolves will match up against Paul Smith's College for the first time in program history and then take on reigning YSCC champions New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) on September 20th.

The SeaWolves wrap up September with a two-game home stand against Hampshire College and then the Community College of Rhode Island on the 30th. SMCC will travel to Unity College to break a two-game skid against the Rams before returning home to play host to CMCC in a non-conference match on October 10th. The SeaWolves will look to overcome the University of Maine at Machias for the second time in program history at home in their final regular season date of 2017.

New to this year's postseason is the final four format without a play-in game. The YSCC championship tournament will be held at NHTI in Concord, N.H. October 28th-29th. The USCAA National Tournament is set for November 9th-13th in Virginia Beach, Va.
