Abdul and Morgan Named SeaWolves of the Week
SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— First-year Kaylah Abdul (South Berwick, Maine) and junior John Morgan (Sanford, Maine) were named SeaWolves of the Week on Monday, Jan. 23.
SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— First-year Kaylah Abdul (South Berwick, Maine) and junior John Morgan (Sanford, Maine) were named SeaWolves of the Week on Monday, Jan. 23.
Abdul, of the women’s basketball team, averaged 15.5 points per game over a two-game road slate last week in which her team won at Great Bay Community College (GBCC) and at the University of Maine at Machias (UMM). Abdul’s most impressive performance was at GBCC when she tallied 20 points, five rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Part of a dynamic backcourt, Abdul made an efficient nine of 12 in the game on Wednesday, Jan. 18.
Morgan, captain of the men’s basketball team, averaged 17.5 points and eight rebounds per game over the same span in which the SMCC men picked up two wins. In his biggest game of the week, Morgan dropped 25 points and pulled down seven rebounds in just 26 minutes of action on Saturday, Jan 21 in the team’s 85-57 rout over UMM.
SMCC basketball continues this week with a two-game home stand on Wednesday, Jan. 25 against the University of Maine at Augusta and on Saturday, Jan. 28 vs. Dean College.
