NEXT UP: Kevin Hill Is Named Head Coach of SMCC Women's Volleyball Program
SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) is proud to announce the hiring of Kevin Hill as the new Head Coach of the Seawolves Women’s Volleyball program.
SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) is proud to announce the hiring of Kevin Hill as the new Head Coach of the Seawolves Women’s Volleyball program.
Originally from Suffern, New York, Hill brings a dynamic background in coaching, program-building, and player development across multiple levels of the sport. Now residing in Kennebunkport, Maine, Hill has been deeply involved in the Maine volleyball community and is excited to bring his experience and passion to SMCC.
Hill is a 2022 graduate of the University of Southern Maine, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in English along with teaching certifications. During his time at USM, he founded and played on the Men’s Volleyball Club team, guiding the program from its inception to national recognition, including a 5th place finish at the 2022 NCVF National Championships.
Hill’s coaching résumé includes roles at York High School, Sanford High School, and the launch of the Sanford Middle School volleyball program. He currently leads youth development camps across the region and remains active as the Head Coach of the USM Men’s Volleyball Club team. His coaching accomplishments include numerous tournament championships and player accolades at both the high school and collegiate club levels.
“SMCC immediately stood out to me because of its emphasis on student development, opportunity, and community,” said Hill. “I see community college athletics as a powerful space for growth, especially for athletes who are finding their confidence, refining their skills, and preparing for what comes next academically and athletically.”
As he steps into the role at SMCC, Hill’s vision for the program centers on development, accountability, and belief. He aims to establish a team culture rooted in high effort, continuous improvement, and strong support systems, while building a program a highly competitive program.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Kevin to the Seawolves family,” said Director of Athletics Ethan Wells. “SMCC is excited to see him build on the prior success of the program.”
The Seawolves will open their 2026 campaign this fall under Coach Hill’s leadership.
