Seawolves Clinch YSCC Regular Season with Win Over CMCC
SOUTH PORTLAND, MAINE – Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball closed out the regular season defeating Central Maine Community College 7-4 on Thursday evening to clinch the #1 seed in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Seawolves broke through in the middle innings, scoring twice in the fourth and putting up four runs in the fifth to take the lead. Zach Oliver (Gloucester, Massachusetts) sparked the offense with two hits, including a double, and scored twice, while Tyler Herkalo (Parkton, Maryland) drove in two runs.
Max Noto (Wentzville, Missouri) earned the win on the mound, tossing seven strong innings. He allowed just one hit and struck out four, working around five walks to keep the Mustangs off the board until late. Dante Tocci (Portland, Maine) came on in relief to nail down the save, recording the final five outs.
The Mustangs made a late push with four runs in the eighth, but SMCC responded with an insurance run in the bottom of the inning and held firm in the ninth.
With the win, SMCC secures the top overall seed in the upcoming YSCC postseason tournament, which will be hosted at The Ballpark at Old Orchard Beach.
