HOW IT HAPPENED:
Great Bay struck first, capitalizing on early walks to take a 1-0 lead in the opening frame and extended the lead to 3-0 in the top of the third.
The Seawolves responded in the bottom half of the third, tying the game on a sacrifice fly from Samuel Potié (Gatineau, Quebec) before Quinntin Gillies (Oshawa, Ontario) delivered a two-run single to give SMCC a 3-3 tie and spark the offense.
Southern Maine took control in the fourth, plating three runs to grab a 6-3 lead. Tyler Herkalo (Parkton, Md.) drove in a run with a single before Thomas Marcotte (New Bedford, Mass.) followed with a fielder's choice that brought home two more.
The Seawolves continued to add on, scoring twice in the fifth and once in the sixth to extend the lead. Gillies highlighted the fifth inning with a double, while Tristan Laplante (Durham, Maine) added an RBI single.
SMCC tacked on two more in the seventh, with Laplante doubling and later scoring on a Noah Gaghan (Standish, Maine) RBI single before Bryce Wilcox (Strong, Maine) added a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 11-4.
Great Bay added a run late, but Garrett McLeod (Winterport, Maine) shut the door in the ninth, striking out two to secure the victory.
Aidan Dolan (Weymouth, Mass.) got the start, striking out five over four innings, while Nick St. Cyr (Biddeford, Maine) provided steady relief before McLeod closed things out.
