HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a scoreless first two innings, the Seawolves broke through in the third. Thomas Marcotte (New Bedford, Mass.) delivered a two-run single to center field, scoring Mitchel Violette (Westbrook, Maine) and Tyler Herkalo (Parkton, Md.) to give SMCC an early 2-0 lead.
CMCC responded in the bottom half of the fourth inning, capitalizing on defensive miscues and timely hitting to plate three runs and take a 3-2 advantage.
The Mustangs extended their lead in the fifth inning with a two-run triple from Garren Post, pushing the margin to 5-2. CMCC added an insurance run in the sixth to make it 6-2.
SMCC chipped away in the seventh inning when Marcotte recorded his third RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly, bringing home Bryce Wilcox (Strong, Maine) to cut the deficit to 6-3.
