SeaWolves’ Balanced Attack Too Much For Fighting Saints

In an evening with many notable performances, the SeaWolves shared the workload in shooting a season-best 60.9 percent from the floor. Sophomore Chase Soares (Falmouth, Mass.) put together his most complete performance yet recording 13 points, a career-high 15 assists, and seven rebounds. Junior captain John Morgan (Sanford, Maine) poured in 24 points, and sophomore Ryan Cloutier (Pelham, N.H.) finished with 20 points, shooting 77 percent from the floor (10-13) with five blocks. Sophomore Dylan Silvestri (Pelham, N.H.) was two rebounds shy of a double-double with 15 points and eight rebounds coming off the bench.
The SMCC men assisted on 28 of 39 baskets and capitalized on points off turnovers with 25. The SeaWolves never trailed in the game, going ahead 2-0 on a made layup by Cloutier in the first possession of the game. SMCC outscored its opponent 35-45 in the first half and by an eight-point margin in the second to pick up the 18-point victory.
In a post-game interview, Assistant Coach AJ Burton reflected on the team's performance. "Tonight we were fortunate to get big time contributions from everyone. This is a balanced team and when all of us come together for 40 minutes, we can be a dangerous team. The coaching staff is proud of the team's effort on both ends of the floor and we look to carry this momentum into two road games next week."

The action continues when the SeaWolves take on the 4-10 Herons of Great Bay Community College in their second meeting this season on Wednesday, Jan. 18. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. in Portsmouth, N.H.
