SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—2018-19 was the Year of the SeaWolf as the Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) athletics department compiled one of the most dominant year’s in varsity school history and conference affiliation. Here is a look at the numbers based on the six program offerings.

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—At the conclusion of the semester, Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Director of Athletics Matt Richards published the findings of the semi-annual Spring 2019 Athletics Engagement and Academic Report. The report shows student-athlete GPAs and retention rates based on United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) normal progress rules for athletic participation eligibility.

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Athletics Department held its annual awards banquet on Tuesday, May 7 at the Best Western Merry Manor Inn in celebration of its student-athletes and their many successes throughout the 2018-19 academic year and athletic seasons.

UNIONTOWN, Penn.—The #4-seeded Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s basketball team concluded its 2018-19 season with a 93-76 rout over the #7 Nittany Lions from Penn State University of Mont Alto in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Tournament consolation round on Monday, Mar. 4.

UNIONTOWN, Penn.—The #4-seeded Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s basketball team was defeated 81-71 by the #5 Wildcats from Johnson & Wales University (NC) in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) national tournament quarterfinal round on Sunday, Mar. 3.

UNIONTOWN, Penn.—After a one-year hiatus, both Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s and women’s basketball teams get back to Uniontown, Penn. receiving at-large bid to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division 2 Basketball National Tournament. The tournament begins Sunday, Mar. 3 following the skills competition and the championship awards banquet on Saturday, Mar. 2.

Men’s Basketball Suffers YSCC Championship Loss

AUBURN, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s basketball team finished as runners-up in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) Championship Tournament over the weekend—defeating Vermont Technical College (VTC) on Saturday, Feb. 23, but falling to NHTI on Sunday, Feb. 24.

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The #2-seeded Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s basketball team took down the #7 Moose from the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) 84-60 in the quarter final round of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) playoff tournament on Sunday, Feb. 17.

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s basketball team took revenge on the #4-ranked United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Lynx from NHTI 94-79 in part two of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) season series Thursday, Jan. 31.
