HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a physical and scoreless first half that saw both teams trade fouls and possession, the Seawolves found their rhythm after the break. In the 60th minute, senior forward Louis Sehr (Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire) got things rolling, finishing a ball across the box from Jaxon Olsen (Gardiner, Maine) to put SMCC on top 1-0.
Just eight minutes later, Luke Gorczok (Orrington, Maine) doubled the lead with an unassisted goal, capitalizing on a defensive lapse.
Ignacio Ruiz Garcia (Zaragoza, Spain) made it 3-0 in the 80th minute with a clinical finish after a corner opportunity.
Capping off the win was Ibrahim Alzirkani, who converted from the penalty spot in the 89th minute to seal SMCC's third conference win of the season.
The Seawolves' back line, anchored by Ruiz Garcia and goalkeeper Adao Lufumbu (Portland, Maine), held the Lions to just six shots on goal and secured their third clean sheet of the year.
