NHTI defeats SMCC, Wins NECA Tournament
South Portland - In the semifinal round of today's NECA softball tournament action, NHTI pitcher Tori Lemay (Manchester, NH) pitched seven innings giving up only five hits and no runs to lead the Lady Lynx to a 6-0 victory over the Lady Seawolves
South Portland - In the semifinal round of today's NECA softball tournament action, NHTI pitcher Tori Lemay (Manchester, NH) pitched seven innings giving up only five hits and no runs to lead the Lady Lynx to a 6-0 victory over the Lady Seawolves. The Lady Seawolves struggled to find any offensive rythymn as Lemay struck out eight of the first nine batters she faced, ending the game with 14 total strikeouts.
At the top of the fourth inning with the Lady Seawolves trailing 2-0, second baseman Zoey Proctor (Rockland, ME) broke the offensive drought getting on base with a single. Two batters later catcher Roberta Trafton (Corinth, ME) hit another single for the Lady Seawolves, but NHTI was able to finish the inning without letting either runner score. Proctor led the Lady Seawolves for the afternoon going two for three from the plate. NHTI's offense was led by shortstop Joardyn Douillette (Loudon, NH) who went three for four including a three RBI triple in the sixth inning.
In the championship game of today's NECA tournament the Lady Lynx of NHTI defeated the Lady Wildcats of UNH in extra innings by a score of 10-3. UNH made it to the finals by defeating the Golden Eagles of EMCC in the semifinals.
This tournament wraps up the fall season for the Lady Seawolves, ending with a 5-5 overall record and a conference record of 3-4. The Lady Seawolves will return to action in the spring.
