Lady Seawolves Soar Past Golden Eagles
South Portland - Tonight the Lady Seawolves opened up their fall season with a game against the Golden Eagles of Eastern Maine Community College. Seawolves pitching duo Charlotte Lewis (Chatham, NH) and Erica Brochu (Lewiston, ME) combined for seven strikeouts in five innings, giving up only two hits and one run. The Seawolves' offense combined for three doubles, a triple and a homerun to overcome the Eagle 9-1.

After two innings of play the score was knotted, 1-1 until shortstop Melinda Pye (Bucksport, ME) crushed a two run homer over the left field fence pulling the Seawolves ahead 3-1. First baseman Kathryn Gilio (Hampden, ME) followed up the homerun with a double to put herself in scoring position and Brochu batted her home with a double of her own. The Seawolves were quiet in the fourth but came to life again in the fifth when catcher Anna Allard (Parsonsfield, ME) nailed a triple and then scored on a Lewis single. The Seawolves rattled off four more runs in the fifth to end the game by the eight run rule, 9-1.
Pitcher Jen Wright had the lone run for the Golden Eagles.
The Lady Seawolves will be looking to improve their 1-0 overall record on Friday, September 12th, when they go on the road to play the UNH Wildcats at 5pm.
