Lady Seawolves Sweep Bulldogs
Franklin, MA - The combination of pitching prowess by Erica Brochu (Lewiston, ME) and Charlotte Lewis (Fryeburg, ME) and creative baserunning by the rest of the team overwhelmed the Lady Bulldogs of Dean College as the Lady Seawolves came away with two mercy ruling wins this afternoon.
Franklin, MA - The combination of pitching prowess by Erica Brochu (Lewiston, ME) and Charlotte Lewis (Fryeburg, ME) and creative baserunning by the rest of the team overwhelmed the Lady Bulldogs of Dean College as the Lady Seawolves came away with two mercy ruling wins this afternoon.
In game one Lewis, Abigail Nielsen (North Yarmouth, ME) and Shannon Blanchard (Windsor, ME) each scored a run in both the first and second innings to help give the Seawolves a 7-1 advantage after two. To start the third Nielsen and shortstop Anna Allard (Parsonsfield, ME) each stole home on wild pitches to chalk up two more runs for SMCC. The Seawolves ended the game with 16 stolen bases and seven RBIs, sealing the 11-2 victory. The SMCC offense was led by Blanchard who had six of the teams stolen bases, while going 1-1 at the plate with a double and four runs. Brochu gave up only two hits and had three strikeouts to pick up the win.
In the latter game of the double header Charlotte Lewis earned seven strikeouts in five innings and gave up only two earned runs as the Seawolves cruised to the 15-3 triumph. In the first inning the Seawolves batted through the order, scoring nine runs before recording their first out. Allard went 2-4 at the plate, recording a double and a triple and two RBIs while newcomer Alicia Hoyt (Steep Falls, ME) went 2-4 with three RBIs and two runs. Danielle Mobbs (Richmond, VT) chipped in with a double, two RBIs, two stolen bases and two runs.
The Lady Seawolves are now 2-2 for the spring season and will be back in action tomorrow afternoon against Northern Essex CC at 3:30 and 5pm.
