SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball team hosted the fast-pitch women’s league team from Lisbon in an exhibition on Saturday, May 8.
Despite an unfavorable final, first-year Kaylee Whitten (South Portland, Maine) and first-year Emma Cousins (Wells, Maine) collected extra-base hits—Whitten blasted a 2-run homer and Cousins laced a gap double. Junior captain Kimberly Banville (Arundel, Maine) also tallied a base knock to record a 1-3 day from the plate.
Following the game, Coach Jones and the Lady SeaWolves celebrated graduates Whitten and Banville for their dedication and leadership to the program. Whitten will be attending the University of Southern Maine (Gorham, Maine) in the fall in pursuit of her bachelor's degree in Business Administration; Banville intends to transfer to Keiser University (Tampa, Fl.) for enrollment in the radiology program.
