SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Athletic Department has announced the resignation of Autumn Jones as Head Softball Coach.
Coach Jones was hired in the summer of 2019 ahead of a 2020 COVID-19 spring season cancellation and 2021 instructional athletics season, again in response to virus safety.
Director of Athletics, Matt Richards commented, “Coach Jones took over the softball program at a very challenging time. Her diligence, professionalism, and hard work will certainly be missed and I’m truly appreciative of the commitment she gave to the program.”
Coach Jones leaves the program ready to compete in the Yankee Small College Conference with seven returners and an expected recruiting class of nine newcomers.
The Athletic Department will begin the search process immediately. The position will be posted by the SMCC Human Resources division and other news outlets.
