Saddle Up: Seawolves Ride Past Mustangs 8-1
AUBURN, MAINE - The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball team turned in an all-around performance on Tuesday evening, defeating Central Maine Community College (CMCC), 8-1, in a non-conference matchup. Game two of the scheduled doubleheader was postponed due to weather.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Seawolves broke through in the second inning, as Emma Hartt (Edmonton, Alberta) delivered an RBI single to score Ella Voth (Lacombe, Alberta), who reached on a triple to open the frame.
SMCC added to its lead in the third inning when Ariana Cross (Orrington, Maine) lined a single to bring home Carly Youngblood (Tracy, New Brunswick), making it 2-0.
The Seawolves created separation in the fourth inning, plating three runs on a series of timely hits. Taylor Swift (Keene, N.H.) drove in two with a single, and Jayden Tripp (Prospect, Maine) added an RBI knock later in the inning to extend the lead to 5-0.
SMCC continued to apply pressure in the sixth, as Tripp doubled home a run and Cross followed with another RBI single to push the advantage to 7-0.
After CMCC got on the board in the bottom half of the sixth, the Seawolves answered in the seventh. Hartt tripled and later scored on Swift's third RBI of the game, sealing the 8-1 victory.
In the circle, Sloan Scotvold (Red Deer, Alberta, Canada) recorded the win and 12 strikeouts across 6 innings of work only allowing one earned run.
