The Southern Maine Community College women's basketball team beat conference foe Vermont Technical College 61-31. The Seawolves were able to hold Vermont Tech to 14 second half points and force 23 turnovers to seal the victory. Freshman Katelyn Benson (Westbrook, ME) led all scorers with 18 points. Freshmen forwards Marissa Welch (Livermore, ME) and Kristal Saavedra (Portland, ME) contributed double-doubles. Welch put up 16 points and pulled down 13 rebounds while Saavedra chipped in 10 points and collected 11 rebounds.
The Seawolves are now 9-1 overall and 7-0 in conference play. The women are in action again next weekend when they travel to the College of St. Joseph (VT) on Saturday, December 10 for a 1:00pm game.
