Women's Basketball Earns First Conference Win
South Portland, ME. The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team earned their first conference win with a 77-25 victory over Unity College. A balanced scoring attack and intense defense kept the Seawolves in control the entire forty minutes.
The Seawolves shot 49.3% from the floor including 42.9% from behind the three-point arc. Freshman guard Rogetta Donalson (Hyannis, MA) led SMCC with a game high 13 points on 60% shooting and also contributed 6 rebounds, 6 steals and 6 assists. Junior captain Esther Palmieri (South Portland, ME) and freshman forward Nyalieb Deng (Portland, ME) each chipped in 10 points, while freshman point guard Tiana Burton (Brunswick, ME) tallied 9 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and only 1 turnover.
SMCC (3-0 overall, 1-0 YSCC) is in action again this weekend when they host CCRI and Naval Academy Preparatory School in the SMCC Tip Off Tournament Saturday and Sunday, November 3rd and 4th. Both games will be played at 4:00 PM.
