Seawolves Travel To Vermont Tech to Pick Up OT Win
Randolph Center, VT. The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team picked up their second win of the semester against Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) opponent Vermont Technical College (VTC) in overtime fashion by a score of 75-60. It was a tight game throughout, with multiple lead changes and the Seawolves down at half time with a score 35-30. SMCC came out in overtime on fire shooting 85.7% from the field and out scoring VTC 18-3.
SMCC was led by freshman forward Alicia Hoyt (Steep Falls, ME) who shot 65% from the field with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 6 steals. Junior guard Esther Palmieri(South Portland, ME) chipped in 21 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals while coming off the bench sophomore guard Yaritza Tejada (Chelsea, MA) added 8 points on 4 for 5 shooting and 6 steals.
SMCC improves to 11-6 overall and remains 5-3 in conference play. The Seawolves are back in action this Wednesday January 23, as they travel to take on Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) opponent Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC). Game time is scheduled for 6:00PM.
