Seawolves Win Big Conference Game!!
South Portland, ME. The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team beat Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) opponent University of Maine Machias (UMM) tonight by a score of 83-64. The Lady Seawolves got off to a hot start out scoring Machias in the first half 37-28. The Seawolves out rebounded the Clippers 47-26 and out scored them 50-28 in the paint.
Leading the way for the Seawolves was freshman forward Nyalieb Deng (Portland, ME) who came up big with an 18 point 14 rebound double double. Freshman forward Jaimi Poland (Skowhegan, ME) came off the bench with 15 points on 5 for 5 shooting from the field along with 5 for 5 from the free throw line. Poland also contributed 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Freshman forward Alicia Hoyt (Steep Falls, ME) chipped in 14 points along with 4 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 steals.
SMCC improves to 14-7 overall and 8-3 in conference play. The Seawolves are back in action this Tuesday February 5th as they travel to rival Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) opponent New Hampshire Techniacl Institute (NHTI) for a 6:00PM game start time.
