Lady Seawolves Beat NHTI for Big Conference Win!!
Concord, NH. The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team added another big conference win to their resume as they traveled to New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) to pick up a tough Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) win. The Seawolves were down at half time by a score of 30-20 but were able to out score the Lynks 42-22 in the second half to pick up a 62-52 victory. Even with the slow start, SMCC ended up shooting almost 41% from the floor.
The Seawolves had an all around effort as 4 players scored in double figures. Freshman forward Alicia Hoyt (Steep Falls, ME) led the way with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Freshman forward Jaimi Poland (Skowhegan, ME) added 12 points on 4-7 shooting and contributed 5 rebounds. Freshman forwards Nyalieb Deng (Portland, ME) and Katryna Gilson (Portland, ME) each chipped in 10 points and had a combined 19 rebounds.
SMCC improves to 15-7 overall and 9-3 in conference play. The Seawolves are back in action this Thursday February 7th as they host Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) rival Central Maine Community College. Game time is scheduled for a 6:00PM.
