Seawolves Lose Nail Biter Against Rival CMCC
South Portland, ME. The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team fell to rival Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) opponent Central Maine Community College (CMCC) tonight by a score of 61-52. CMCC got off to a hot start out scoring SMCC in the first half 38-22. The Seawolves were able to make a run at the number one team in the nation in the second half out by scoring CMCC 30 to 23 but fell short.
Leading the way for the Seawolves was freshman forward Alicia Hoyt (Steep Falls, ME) who had 14 points and 5 rebounds. Coming off the bench freshman forward Katryna Gilson (Portland, ME) and sophomore guard Yaritza Tejada (Chelsea, MA) each chipped in 10 points and a combined 8 rebounds.
SMCC drops to 15-8 overall and 9-4 in conference play. The Seawolves are back in action next Tuesday February 12th as they host Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) opponent University of Maine Augusta (UMA). Game time is scheduled for a 6:00PM.
