SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – Southern Maine Community College Volleyball rolled to a straight-sets victory over Bunker Hill Community College, 3-0 (25-22, 25-12, 25-19), on Monday night at The HUB.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
SMCC secured the opener 25–22 with a late surge, leaning on steady offense from Lilly Andreasen (Gorham, Maine) and quick attacks through the middle with Meryk Lewellen (Gorham, Maine). Yana Montell (Gardiner, Maine) added a timely service ace to help close the frame.
The Seawolves took control in set two and never let go. Long serving runs from Lewellen and Andreasen created immediate separation, while Montell had a service streak of her own later in the frame. The offense stayed clean to finish off a convincing 25–12 result.
Set three saw SMCC trailing 11–6 before the Seawolves flipped the frame with a mid-set burst on the service line—Elise Kaplan (Cumberland, Maine) sparked the rally, Alyssa Rousseau (Yarmouth, Maine) and Amala Rumma tacked on aces, and Dalia Nelson (Kennebunk, Maine) clipped the back line with one of her own—before Lewellen sealed it from the line, 25–19.
