CONCORD, N.H. – Southern Maine Community College (5-1, 4-0 YSCC) closed out the YSCC Volleyball Crossover with a convincing 3-0 win over Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (25-12, 25-20, 25-19) on Sunday afternoon at NHTI.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
SMCC blitzed ACPHS in the opener with a 7–0 start on Dalia Nelson's (Kennebunk, Maine) serve, a run that included an ace and a string of attack errors form ACHPS. Yana Montell (Gardiner, Maine) followed with back-to-back aces to make it 10–1, while Meryk Lewellen (Gorham, Maine) and Lilly Andreasen (Gorham, Maine) finished in the middle and on the pin. A combo block by Lewellen and Montell sealed a 25–12 first set.
Set two featured steady separation built from the service line. Andreasen delivered consecutive aces to push the margin, Elise Kaplan (Cumberland, Maine) added one of her own, and Alyssa Rousseau (Yarmouth, Maine) chipped in a late ace before Andreasen closed the frame with a kill for 25–20.
ACPHS grabbed early momentum in the third, but SMCC flipped it with another extended serving burst from Nelson, who stacked aces to turn a 12–13 deficit into a 19–13 lead. Sivan Semo (Rollinsford, N.H.) scored through the middle down the stretch, and Sophia Davis (Wells, Maine) set the final swing to Semo to finish the sweep, 25–19.
