For the Pack: SMCC Claims 10th Straight Win
SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – Southern Maine Community College (10-1, 7-0 YSCC) stayed unbeaten in conference play with a 3–1 win (25–17, 25–13, 19–25, 25–17) over Paul Smith’s College on Sunday afternoon at The HUB.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SMCC came out firing in the first, hitting .586 as Meryk Lewellen (Gorham, Maine) and Sivan Semo (Rollinsford, N.H.) each found open space at the net. Setter Amala Rumma spread the offense early, while Dalia Nelson (Kennebunk, Maine) and Alyssa Rousseau (Yarmouth, Maine) shared duties on defense as the Seawolves pulled away, 25–17.
The second set followed the same rhythm. Elise Kaplan (Cumberland, Maine) sparked an early 8–1 run behind a pair of service aces and swings from Mikayla Bellman (Silver Spring, Md.). SMCC never trailed, using transition play and a .394 hitting clip to double their lead, 2-0 (25–13).
Paul Smith's fought back in the third, capitalizing on Seawolf miscues to take it 25–19 despite late kills from Lewellenand Kaplan.
The Seawolves regrouped in the fourth. Lewellen's serving run and Semo's quick attacks flipped a 3–0 deficit into control. Lilly Andreasen (Gorham, Maine) and Bellman combined for timely kills to close the door, 25–17, sealing the four-set win.
BY THE NUMBERS:
- Meryk Lewellen led the way with 12 kills, four aces, and a .571 hitting percentage.
- Sivan Semo and Elise Kaplan each added 11 kills, combining for 27 total points.
- Amala Rumma and Yana Montell shared setting duties, dishing out 39 assists.
- Dalia Nelson protected the back row with 12 digs and two service aces.
