Two More at Myrtle: Seawolves Walk off Bevers; Run Rule Bay College
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball earned a 4-3 walk-off victory over Penn State Beaver Thursday morning at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex.
GAME ONE
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball earned a 4-3 walk-off victory over Penn State Beaver Thursday morning at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Seawolves broke the scoreless tie in the fifth inning. Carly Youngblood (Tracy, New Brunswick) sparked the rally with a double before Drea Rideout (Yarmouth, Maine) ripped an RBI triple to right field to give SMCC a 1-0 lead.
Penn State Beaver responded in the sixth inning, scoring three runs to take a 3-1 advantage.
Southern Maine answered immediately in the bottom half of the inning. Ariana Cross (Orrington, Maine) delivered an RBI double and Taylor Swift (Keene, N.H.) followed with a run-scoring single to even the game at 3-3 heading into the final frame.
In the seventh, Sloan Scotvold (Red Deer, Alberta) reached base to begin the inning before Cross again came through with a double to put the winning run in scoring position. Swift stepped up moments later and lined a single to center field to score the winning run and give the Seawolves the walk-off victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Seawolves wasted no time taking control of the game, tallying 12 runs in the first inning.
Drea Rideout (Yarmouth, Maine) reached to begin the frame as Scotvold followed with a hard ground ball, reaching on an error while Rideout scored. Cross added a base hit before Taylor Swift (Keene, N.H.) drove in two runs during the rally.
Emma Hartt (Edmonton, Alberta) and Carly Youngblood (Tracy, New Brunswick) later contributed RBI hits as SMCC capitalized on multiple Bay College miscues to build a the early lead.
Bay College answered with three runs in the second inning.
SMCC continued to apply pressure throughout the game. Rideout drove in a run with a single, while Jayden Tripp (Prospect, Maine) doubled home another during a six-run fourth inning.
The Seawolves finished the afternoon with 14 hits and swiped 13 bases to secure the run-rule victory.
