South Portland, ME. The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team fell to rival Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) opponent New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) tonight by a score of 73-59. NHTI got off to a hot start out scoring SMCC in the first half 37-29. The Seawolves struggled from the floor shooting just over 30% for the game and were out scored 42-18 in the paint.
Leading the way for the Seawolves was junior guard Esther Palmieri (South Portland, ME) who had 13 points and 4 steals. Freshman point guard Tiana Burton (Brunswick, ME) had 12 points, 3 assists and 3 rounds while Nyalieb Deng (Portland, ME) came off the bench with 7 points and 7 rebounds.
SMCC moves to 10-6 overall and remain 5-3 in conference play. The Seawolves are back in action this Saturday, January 19, as they travel to Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) opponent Vermont Technical College (VTC). Game time is scheduled for 1:00PM.
