HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Seawolves struck first in the opening inning, capitalizing on defensive miscues to plate two runs and take an early lead. After UMA answered with a run in the bottom half, SMCC responded in the second as Bryce Wilcox (Strong, Maine) delivered an RBI double to extend the lead to 3-1.
SMCC added to its advantage in the fifth inning behind a triple from Samuel Potié (Gatineau, Quebec), followed by a run-scoring play from Tristan Laplante (Durham, Maine) and an RBI single from Noah Gaghan (Brunswick, Maine) to make it 5-1. The Seawolves kept the pressure on in the sixth, as Tyler Herkalo (Parkton, Md.) doubled home a run and later scored to push the lead to 7-1.
UMA rallied in the seventh with three runs to cut the deficit to 7-4. SMCC responded in the eighth by plating two runs on walks and defensive miscues before adding one more in the ninth, highlighted by a pinch-hit double from Michael Pierce (Greenfield, Mass.) and an RBI single from Mitchel Violette (Westbrook, Maine), to secure the 10-4 victory.
Garrett McLeod (Winterport, Maine) put in six innings of work, facing 28 batters while allowing just one run to collect the win.
